Dear industry member
You have been identified as having:
- Current or previous Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) scheme product registrations; and/or
- Current or previous WaterMark product certifications under AS 4032.4:2014 (thermostatic mixing taps).
If you are unfamiliar with the WELS scheme, information can be found at our Water Rating website.
In 2024 and 2025, industry members nominated thermostatic mixing taps for possible inclusion in the WELS scheme.
This email is to notify you that Standards Australia Committee WS-032 will be undertaking a revision of the WELS Standard (AS/NZS 6400:2016), starting in December 2025. A range of initiatives will be considered, including the possible inclusion of thermostatic mixing taps in the WELS scheme. Currently, thermostatic mixing taps are specifically excluded from being regulated under the scheme.
If you wish to provide views for WS-032 consideration, please note that industry is represented by the Plumbing Products Industry Group (PPIG), the Australian Plumbing Manufacturers Association (APMA) and AI Group. You can direct your views or supporting information to your industry representative for consideration. If you are not a member of any of these groups, you can send comments to [email protected] and we will ensure they are raised with the committee on your behalf.
If you have any questions about the above, please contact us at [email protected].
