Proposed Changes to AS 4775:2025 Now Available for Public Feedback

Applicable changes of AS4775:2025

Key things unchanged:

  1. Critical measurements, flow rates and pressure remain unchanged – such as shower flow rate to be 75.7L/min at 210kPa; eye/face washer to be 11.4L/min at 210kPa for ≥15min.

Possible major effects:

  1. Clause 4.2  AS/NZS 4020 required for drinking-water-contact components
  2. Appendix A.6.1 requires conformity marking –
    1. Manufacturer’s trademark;
    2. Conformity mark;
    3. Licence no.
    4. Batch id;
    5. Specification no.
  3. Appendix A.6.2 requires Assembly markings to be durable or incorporated, including Inlet; Outlet; max/min pressures and temperatures; flow rates and model no.
  4. Clause 14 Detailed requirements for weekly testing to be maintained (weekly risk assessment)

Minor effects:

  1. Alarm system needs to be reviewed; new version requires the alarm can be central monitored, and sound to be distinguishable in tone and pattern to fire and evacuation
  2. Temperature minor change, from 15.6-37.8℃ -> 15.0-37.0℃
  3. Clause 16.1 mentions laminar flow should be used in microbiological laboratories or corrosive environments; otherwise, either aerated or laminar flow is acceptable for general circumstances.
